A story from West Calder
Topic outline
-
During the Coronavirus lockdown West Calder Trust offered the villages of Loganlea and Addiewell ready cooked meals from Monday to Friday. This was greatly appreciated by the vulnerable of the villages. On their community page they asked for volunteers to help deliver. There was a good response and this allowed this service to get started. Having extra volunteers has been a godsend.
Saturday 25th April was the first day of our food parcels. By advertising on the community page and putting posters up in the villages there was a good response. Over 70 food parcels were made and distributed. West Lothian Council, West Lothian Food Bank and Pennies Pantry in Whitburn as well as Lidl Whitburn have all helped by donating bread and vegetables to add to the bags. It is so nice to see everyone pitching in together. We hope to continue this service for our vulnerable residents for another few weeks if we can.
