A story from Kelty in Fife
Topic outline
-
Frances and Andrea Hughes, along with pals Susan Forrester and Lisa Callaghan are serving up between 30 and 50 meals a day to the most vulnerable in their village of Kelty, Fife.
People started donating food and money to buy items and Frances started cooking all sorts of meals and inside a few days they were going around 30 people in the village. Meals range from everybody’s favourite, mince and tattie to pasta dishes.
Frances does the cooking while the others distribute the meals. Other members of the community have also taken a stint at cooking and baking which includes Kelty Hearts Chairman, Ian Thomson.
The children of the village have not been forgotten with a donation of confectionery from Whispering Women Group in Cowdenbeath.
They have received a huge amount of support from the community and local Councillor and Businessman Alex Campbell has donated fuel to help with the deliveries.
