A small business with a big heart. The village store at Waterside has swung into action during the coronavirus outbreak.The village store at Waterside has swung into action during the coronavirus outbreak. Proprietor Lisa Giffen, with the help of her family and dedicated staff have been preparing meal packs, soup, pies and cakes, and set up a delivery service to help the isolated people in the area.They are now supplying to folk as far away as Auchinloch, Auchinairn and Springburn.Lisa and her team are also offering free lunches for village school children every Monday and Friday - all at Lisa’s own expense.
Lisa and Kenny Giffen, David Telfer and Katie Gilchrist are the local heroes who are doing their bit to help the community. Lisa said: “Archie’s will be providing soup to anyone who is unable to get out for food. If anyone knows or is worried about anyone – families or neighbours – please message us and we will be happy to deliver. We need to be kind and look after each other.”
Waterside resident and Community Council member, Cordy Lilly said: “They really are incredible: on top of the constant cooking, baking and delivering, and frequent donating, of delicious and healthy meals, treats and lifesavers, they find time to think of everyone else.
“None of us will ever know how to thank Archie’s for all they do. There may not be any other facilities in Waterside but goodness, our shop has to beat any other shop in Scotland.”
